In light of the persistent gender educational inequality on a global scale, the ReadHer Foundation is dedicated to fostering transformative change in girls' education through the power of literature. Our mission revolves around hosting and establishing book clubs within girls' schools, with the primary objective of instilling a deep and enduring love for reading. By doing so, we encourage intellectual growth and aim to foster a supportive community of young readers who inspire and empower one another.
The ReadHer Foundation recognizes that literature can serve as a powerful tool to address broader social issues, particularly gender inequality. We firmly believe that every girl should have equal opportunities to access education and achieve her full potential. Through literature, we seek to eliminate gender disparities in education and improve literacy among girls, providing them with the skills and confidence to overcome the barriers that girls face today.

According to Teach For All, a global network dedicated to addressing educational inequity, research has shown that gender inequality remains a significant challenge in many educational systems worldwide. Girls often face barriers to accessing quality education, ranging from cultural biases to limited resources.
Girls are still, on average, less educated than boys around the world
Girls face discrimination and subjugation because of their gender, leading to gender inequality, bias, and abuse
Educating girls produces outsized gains for society
Secondary school enrollment between girls and boys is not yet proportional in 40% of countries
Globally, 130 million girls between ages of 6 and 17 remain out of school
In developing countries, one in four girls have not completed primary school, compared to one in six boys
According to the Malala Fund, 120 million girls are still out of school today due to a multitude of factors:
Child Labor: Girls forced into child labor often lack the opportunity to attend school because they are engaged in income-generating activities.
Early Marriage: Early marriages force many girls to abandon their education as they assume adult responsibilities at a young age.
Conflict: Ongoing conflicts and wars disrupt educational systems, making it difficult for girls to attend school in affected regions.
Cost: High educational costs, including tuition fees and related expenses, can be prohibitive for many families, preventing girls from enrolling in school.
Gender Bias: Deep-seated gender biases in some societies prioritize boys' education over girls', limiting educational opportunities for female students.
Health Issues: Health challenges, such as limited access to menstrual hygiene products and facilities, can lead to absenteeism and dropout rates among girls.
Natural Disasters: Natural disasters like earthquakes and floods can damage infrastructure and disrupt schooling for girls in affected areas.
Poor Quality Education: Inadequate facilities and a lack of trained teachers can hinder the quality of education girls receive, further discouraging their enrollment.
